International Business Times Wins Four SABEW Best in Business Awards

International Business Times, a trusted source of real-time news, intelligence and analysis on the forces reshaping global and national economies, has been recognized by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) with four Best in Business Awards including three winners and one finalist. The SABEW Best in Business Awards recognize outstanding business stories published in 2015.

International Business Times Senior Writer Eric Markowitz won the Digital Explanatory category and was named a finalist in the Technology category for his submission, “Law Enforcement Tech,” in which he reveals how savvy private technology companies are exploiting mass incarceration and the global spread of American-style policing to extract vast profits.

International Business Times Staff Writer Joel Warner won the Small Business category for his submission, “Marijuana Inc.” in which he explores the challenges and opportunities of the legal marijuana business for the entrepreneurs and workers who draw on it for their living, as well as growing concerns about the trade’s impacts on workplace safety and the environment.
